What’s the deal with the name?

Estorie was born to Anglo-Norman parents, but her grandparents were Latin, the Historias. Originally, the Historias were only concerned with the facts in their tales, a straightforward accounting of events. When some of the Historias immigrated to England, they changed their name to the Historys. Estorie wanted to break from her family and decided that her accounts would be “stories” rather than plain historical accounts. She later changed her name to “story” to make it easier for all.
